Albareh Art Space is one of Bahrain's most established galleries, dedicated to modern and contemporary art from the MENASA region and the wider Arab diaspora.
For over two decades Albareh has earned acclaim for showing the work of established and emerging artists from the MENASA region and the Arab diaspora in carefully assembled exhibitions that explore historical and contemporary themes - ambitious projects that are intense, considered and unafraid to take a position.
Since its founding the gallery has played a central role in Bahrain's cultural landscape, presenting and promoting local, regional and international modern Arab masters alongside contemporary practices through curated exhibitions in Bahrain, the GCC and regular participation in art fairs across the region and overseas.
Albareh is now known as Albareh Art Space, formerly Albareh Art Gallery. As the gallery's interests have grown well beyond exhibitions to encompass a wider range of art initiatives - including the workshops and creative programmes of Sikkat Albareh - we have adopted "Space" as a broader, more inclusive name that better reflects everything we now offer.
Albareh's programme is built around solo exhibitions, group shows and special projects developed in close dialogue with artists. The gallery places equal weight on curatorial depth and on the long-term development of the artists it represents, supporting them through publications, institutional placements and presence at international art fairs.
Albareh represents an international group of modern and contemporary artists whose work transcends the aesthetic and challenges the intellect, in practices spanning painting, drawing, sculpture, video, installation and photography.
The gallery works closely with private collectors, museums, foundations, architects, interior designers, art consultants and fellow dealers. Many of the artists we represent are held in public, corporate and private collections across the region and internationally.
