A little about
who we are

"Hi, we're Don and Trish, and we run ASAP. We have been involved with animal rescue in different aspects for about 20 years now."

We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in good standing, 100% donation-based — powered by our awesome followers like you!

Our mission here at ASAP is two-fold:

  • To feed strays in the Abilene TX area
  • To assist owners locate and capture their lost pets

We are not a traditional rescue facility and do not take in strays on a regular basis. We do take them in if they have medical issues or are in a dangerous location. We have a two-pen enclosure in the back for temporary holding, and rely on in-home fosters for longer term animals.

We also help our community by trapping feral cats and taking them in to be neutered/spayed and then released back to where they were trapped (TNR).

How ASAP helps
our community

From feeding stations to drone-assisted pet searches, Don and the ASAP team go above and beyond for animals and their owners in Abilene.

🍗

Stray Feeding Program

We maintain feeding stations and routes throughout Abilene to ensure no stray dog or cat goes hungry — rain or shine, every day of the year.

🔍

Lost Pet Recovery

We help owners locate and safely capture their lost pets using a variety of large box traps and our specialized 10'×10'×6' trap for larger animals.

📷

Remote Trap Monitoring

Live streaming game cameras send pictures and video directly to our cellphone so we can monitor traps 24/7 from anywhere — no need to be on-site around the clock.

🚁

Drone Search Assistance

We deploy drones, to include a thermal drone, to help locate lost pets over larger areas. Using drones greatly increases our chance of locating lost pets.

✂️

TNR – Feral Cat Program

We assist our local shelter with trapping feral cats, having them spayed or neutered, and return them to their territory — humanely managing the feral cat population in our community.

🏥

Emergency Medical Intake

When a stray has medical issues that need addressing or is in immediate danger, we bring them in and get them the care they need before finding a home.

Animals looking for
foster & forever homes

These sweet animals are currently in our care — some need temporary foster homes, others are ready for adoption. Could you be their person?
