The people I’ve bet there are so interesting, inspiring, and cool; and I totally support the decentralized nature of services. Here’s how to quickly get started for new IRC users. For more info, see Libera’s official guide.

  2. Enter your Nick (username)
  3. Skip Channel for contacting me directly (DM)
  4. If you want to join a channel to chat with others, enter the channel name with # prefix (e.g., #indieweb, #channel-name)
  5. Click Start
  6. In the input box near the bottom, type /query burgeonlab, for private chat

XMPP Channel

New in April 2026, a public, multi-user chatroom is available via the XMPP protocol. Feel free to join the room and discuss anything related to this blog or its contents. I may start using it for polls, announcements, etc—but I haven’t decided yet.
