CAUSE

Shaped by lived experience. Strengthened by compassion. Driven by purpose.
Stand with families, partners, and friends caring for a loved one with serious mental illness.

Every day across Northern Ireland, thousands of families, partners, and friends shoulder the emotional, practical, and financial pressures of caring for someone living with serious and enduring mental illness.

CAUSE is the only peer-led charity in Northern Ireland dedicated entirely to supporting them.
Founded by carers in 1995, we remain guided by lived experience, working through a regional team of trained Carer Advocates who walk alongside families to ensure that no one faces this journey alone.

Through one-to-one advocacy, our helpline, support groups, training, and policy influence, we help carers sustain their own wellbeing, reduce isolation, and be recognised as equal partners in recovery.

Each year, we support over 5,000 registered carers across Northern Ireland, providing understanding, information, and hope when it’s needed most.

Your donation helps us:

- Provide direct, trauma-informed advocacy and emotional support for carers in crisis.

- Expand our helpline and outreach to ‘seldom-heard’ families.

- Train professionals and carers to build more compassionate systems of support.

- Amplify carers’ voices in mental-health policy and service design.

Together, we can build an inclusive society that recognises, supports, and values the vital role families play in recovery.

No one should have to care alone.
