When I was younger, I used to go bowling a lot. No real reason. I lived near a place that did cosmic bowling. Oh, you don’t know cosmic bowling? Think of how a regular bowling alley is. Then think about a crazy club at night. Combine them. Flashing lights, EDM music, totally wild! Now at the places I’d go, it wouldn’t be all night. It was like every hour for 15 minutes. Then it would just go back to normal. But for those 15 minutes, your girl was going CRAZY. 😂 I can’t really bowl often anymore because my hands start to hurt pretty quickly, but who knows. Maybe this summer, I’ll head to cosmic bowling and have a fun 15 minutes again.

I Am Light

I admit, I had a bit of a pity party for myself recently. I had an idea for a blog photo, one of the first real creative sparks I’ve had in a while. But before I could do it, I saw many blogger friends blog the same things, even in almost the same style of what I wanted to do. And I felt down. I don’t have the time (or energy) to blog the way I did years ago, where I could produce daily blogs with no issues. Life is life, you know? So now, by the time I am able to put something together, everyone I follow has basically already blogged the items. It does make you feel like you’re a lesser blogger sometimes when you don’t produce the same amount as others can, as quickly as they can.

But then I thought, okay, but does it really matter? I have always done photos because I genuinely love it. I love promoting stores and events that I enjoy. And I know that I’m not copying anyone’s photo, I have my own style. Even if a dozen other bloggers have blogged something I want to use, why shouldn’t I do it, too? All promotion is good promotion, isn’t it?

So basically, I told myself to quit crying and get back to doing what I love. And I think that’s about as good of a daily affirmation as I can do for myself today.

We Want The Good Life

It’s definitely felt more warm and “summer is coming” around here lately. And for me, that means dresses! I’m a huge fan of pretty dresses in my offline world, and that definitely shows in my SLife, too. I wasn’t always a fan of dresses. I thought they required work. But then a few years ago, I bought one just to throw on, and I realized how EASY dresses are. You look instantly put together, no real work required. And that’s the kind of fashion fun I can get down with.

I’m Not Ready To Back Down

I think there comes a time in every blogger’s life where creativity takes a whole dip and the thought of putting together a photo at all is just draining more than it is fulfilling. I’ve been going through that this past year. Maybe even two years. My offline life is…well, sometimes it’s really draining itself. I’ve struggled hard to find creativity when my mind is constantly on practical matters. As a result, I’ve dropped the ball on a lot of things. And that really sucks, because doing SL photos is truly one of my biggest loves.

But you know what? I’m not ready to give up yet. And I have people in my life, my future partner especially, who push me to do more, be more creative, dream bigger, be whimsical and free. I’ve watched him recently as he’s been working on new music he’ll play at SL23B and it’s inspiring to me. So it’s time to get off my pixel ass and get to work.

Happy Saturday, friends! One of the things I’ve been working on lately is allowing myself time to just be. It’s not easy. I have a problem about feeling like if I’m not being productive, something’s going to fall apart. But today is Saturday. It’s rainy, meaning I am staying home. The house is quiet. I’m just hanging out. And honestly? I am feeling just fine.

I’m Already In A Daydream

I was talking to my guy the other night about the fact that somewhere along the way, I stopped daydreaming. It’s not that my brain ever fully shuts off. It doesn’t. But all that daydreaming I used to where I created whole worlds in my imagination? Nope. Gone. Part of it is that I feel the need to be doing *something* at all hours. I never really give myself a moment to just be… well, to just be. And another part of it is, I think, that any daydream I have, any world I want to create, I can do it in Second Life. Which is a blessing, but maybe a teeny tiny curse, too? Because how do you create your whimsical world if you don’t daydream it first? So I guess that’s my goal over the next month. Daydreaming.

Strong Is What We Are

I asked my guy the other night if he would mind letting me be “brainless” for the evening since my brain had basically been on at 100 for the entire day. He’s pretty good at making sure I feel held, so even though it’s not something I would have asked anyone before because letting go of control for even a moment makes me feel like I’m getting hives, I felt like it was safe to do it with him. And I think that’s kind of a beautiful version of love in its own way, you know? Safety. Feeling safe with someone who doesn’t make you feel weird for needing things, even if you can’t really put into words what you need.

Now did I let go completely? No. I’m me and I’m kind of a control freak by nature because that’s how I’ve always protected myself. But I’m learning that it’s okay if I lean sometimes, too. It doesn’t make me less strong. In fact, it kind of makes me more.

That’s Some Kind Of Wonderful

I know very little about landscaping in SL. Yes, even after a babillion years here, my style of “landscaping” is to just throw a lot of trees and flowers on the ground and run. But now I have a partner who is very good at it, so I don’t have to be good at it. Last night we were just chatting and before I knew it, he’d created a new shoreline near the cliffs where our house is. I absolutely love it! And him, too, of course.

Spring is such a “boho” time of the year for me. Well…autumn is, too. And sometimes summer. Okay, listen, I love the boho chic aesthetic. It speaks to me in the best ways!
