After nearly 10 years, it’s time to start contributing to Open Source again.

My Open Spurce journey begann with breeze icons for KDE, than I added breeze icons to LibreOffice. After that I made a the complete new colibre icon theme for LibreOffice which is the default for the Windows users.

After Icon stuff I start with pressts, different visuals and User Interface related stuff like Notebookbar. Which bring me to Collabora Online Office were I fast switch to mobile toolbar and dark mode.

After my first Open Source Journey I had a long break. Which show me, that Open Source is great. Other Community members update and improve my work. I can say, it’s awesome to see the work done within the DNA of each OSS.

Now I will start again where I did my last work. Collabora Online (Desktop/Mobil/Tablet …). Why? Because I can! Thats the great benefit of OSS. Everyone can improve ist and I enjoy the Collabora Community a lot. In addition to it’s fast development, it’s that easy to make changes and contribute.

You know the LibreOffice community work hard on the LibreOffice 7.1 Christmas release. Did you know that LibreOffice has 7 different UI Layouts? With the next release, our uses will be informed after the installation. Thanks to Heiko for the new dialog.

What do you prefer black/gold or blue/blue? The user can change the line color, area color and shadow color (highlight color) so with 3 clicks you can switch, but I prefer a good default.

LibreOffice 7.0 will get new bullet imges. Hope you like them. In general you can use whatever image you like, want or find from the internet, so in the Bullet image dialog there are the following examples:

I submit a new gallery for LibreOffice called Icons. It show some usefull icons/symbols which can be used in all LibreOffice apps. If you search for app icons they area already available in the GUI widget prototyping extension.

For the LibreOffice 7.0 release I work on galleries. One which is ready for testers is a new/updated arrows gallery.

You can test the arrow gallery by install the extension (upload to the extension page was done. Pending for the review.)

Finally LibreOffice image compression did what you expect. Shrink your image or the impress presentation and don’t destroy your pictures.

Old default settings were 90 for JPEG Quality and reduce image resolution to 96 DPI.

New settings are 80 for JPEG Quality and reduce image resolution to 300 DPI. It frustrate me for long time that with 96 DPI all images that will be compressed with LibreOffice are blurred and didn’t fit in any case. After write Bug 128658 and nobody fixed the bug for me, I fixed it myself with 7 lines of code 🙂

The best bug report are the reports you can fix yourself. Be proud of yourself fill bug reports and fix them yourself.
