Characters are the various mercenaries that players can use when playing the game. New players get to choose between three basic characters: SWAT, OMOH and SAS. Other characters can be obtained via various ways, either permanently or temporary via Item Shop, Black Market, Coupon, AI Ticket, Reward Crates, Nano Soul Stone, etc.

Character List

Trivia

  • The characters' animations were revised several times over the years.
    • Before 2012, the characters' animations were slightly different, notably the way they reload or hold weapons like rifles.
    • Originally, female characters shared similar animations with their male counterparts, which made them look quite weird as the animation mostly didn't fit with the female character model. This was changed in 2009, after the appearance of STAR, which received unique animations, separated from the male ones.
    • In 2012, the characters' animations were overhauled, with several changes to both male and female characters, like different death animations for male characters, some slight changes regarding the reloading and firing animation on rifles, etc.
    • Eventually in December, 2026 (starting from CF China), the animation when switching from standing to crouching in third person view has been optimized on the smoothness as the animation duration has been adjusted.
  • Slug is the default mutant in CF West.
  • Some characters possess skills that may differ from one character to another in other versions.
  • N-22 is the first non-human character that can be own permanently (excluding default mutants).
  • CF China is currently the only version that features separated Chinese voice pack for newly released characters.
  • CF West, CF Brazil, CF Philippines and CF Vietnam are the only versions that features characters with smokescreen reduction skill, and the effect could be stacked Smoke Helmet, giving the slight edge to see through smokescreen more easily (especially when standing in the middle of smoke area); however, the stack was later removed around 2021, giving these characters to be obselete among various options of functional characters in the Character Upgrade System.
