Hi, I’m Kristian Lofts.
I’m a Melbourne-based database engineer with 5+ years building, tuning, and migrating databases for healthcare and government clients. I run DataSolve alongside that day job, taking on database work for Australian businesses that want it handled by an actual engineer, not a generalist agency.
What I do
Most of my engagements fall into four buckets:
- Database engineering. Designing new databases or fixing slow ones. SQL Server, Postgres, and Snowflake mostly.
- Migrations. Moving data between platforms without breaking the business. On-prem to cloud, legacy to modern, spreadsheet to proper database.
- Dashboards. Power BI work, focused on dashboards leadership actually trusts and uses.
- Custom apps. Full-stack web apps where the database is the centre of gravity. Node.js, Postgres, AWS.

5+ years engineering databases for healthcare and government in Melbourne. AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate). Active practitioner, not someone who hasn’t touched SQL in a decade.
