–Official Description of Yayan | ||
Yayan is one of the high school students who got trapped at the abandoned village along with Ira, Doni, Linda, Shelly, and his teacher, Ms. Siska.
Personality[]
Yayan seems to be a smart individual. As stated by Shelly, he is a "know-it-all," which is a slang term for smart people. Despite this, he seems to have a mischievous side as well, wrestling with Doni at the beginning of the game and even going inside the abandoned high school out of curiosity, though failing to make it out. Shelly has stated that he was slightly perverted, due to the fact of his statement made towards her: if she became a ghost and still retained her appearance, he wouldn't mind.
Due to his comical nature, Yayan often provides comic relief in Act I before his disappearance.
Appearance[]
Yayan appears as a young man in high school. He wears his typical school uniform, which consists of a collared shirt and blue pants. His hair is swept to the right side of his face and has relatively dark skin. He is also slightly chubby around his middle.
History and Game[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Yayan's life prior to the start of the game except for the fact that he is highly talented in analytical subjects at school.
Sometime before, Yayan went on a field trip with his classmates and teacher, leading up to the events of Act I.
DreadOut[]
Act I[]
At the beginning of the game, he is seen wrestling in the back of the car with Doni, but after noticing the road getting bumpy, he inquires Ms. Siska if they were going the correct direction. When coming to the huge road block, he ponders out loud what could of caused the bridge to collapse. After Doni clears the bushes, and runs off to explore the town, Yayan and the rest of the group follow a distance behind. If the player decides to go wait a little in front of the village entrance, the group will have a brief conversation about the village's eerie atmosphere.
After arriving at the entrance of the abandoned school, he will ask Linda and Ira if they want to go inside the school with them, but they refuse. After nightfall, Linda and Ira are confused as to why everyone is gone so they go to search for them. Once everyone gets ready to leave, Ms. Siska realizes that Yayan is missing. They go back inside for him, but are unsuccessful as Ira becomes possessed, trapping Linda within the school walls, with everybody else missing.
Act II[]
Yayan is never seen or found again.
In the non-canon ending, Yayan can heard comically calling from a bathroom stall. He somehow trapped himself in there and the ending ends there. It is unknown whether or not this is what canonically Yayan's fate was.
DreadOut 2[]
Prologue[]
As Yayan did not physically return home, he was presumed to have died alongside Ira, Shelly, Doni, and Ms. Siska. His portrait can be seen alongside his other missing classmates and teacher. He seemed to have been well loved by his classmates as they started harboring blamed and hatred forwards Linda for being the one responsible for their 'deaths'.
Act 1[]
Yayan briefly appears in a hallucination seen by Linda. She sees him happily smiling and having fun with Ms. Siska, who is teaching them. In the next segment, where all the others appear dead, Yayan is nowhere to be seen.
The Untolds - Comic[]
Yayan was let out of the women's bathroom by the Principal, after which the two have a short humorous conversation arguing about what the two of them are doing inside the women's bathroom, after which Yayan runs away from the Principal. Oddly, the Principal's appearance and behavior are more human-like than when Linda encounters him, and the comic possibly implies that Yayan was somehow transported to the school in the year 1985.
Relationships[]
Linda Meilinda[]
Linda and Yayan don't interact with each other much. Before Yayan and the rest of the group goes to explore the abandoned school, he briefly stops and asks Linda and Ira if they want to come inside too, but they refuse. Later, after night falls and Yayan goes missing, Linda is clearly worried about his whereabouts.
Shelly[]
Shelly usually gets annoyed by Yayan's know-it-all attitude and antics, as well as the fact that Yayan finds joy in teasing her. Similarly, Yayan finds her perkiness and prissy, yet sparky attitude annoying. Despite this, Shelly showed some concern when Yayan fails to make it out of the school, as she tries to call his cell phone to find his whereabouts. Yayan had teased her by saying the 'perky one' dies first and that if she became a ghost, he wouldn't mind, implying that Yayan might think that she is attractive.
Doni[]
As the only other boy of the group, Yayan and Doni act like good friends and have a healthy relationship. They were seen play-wrestling each other in the car at the beginning of the game. They appear to do a lot of things together, and Doni is slightly distraught when he realises Yayan is missing.
Ms. Siska[]
Even prior to the stopping of the car, Yayan seemed concerned as per the route that Ms. Siska decided to take, asking her, "Are you sure this is the right way, ma'am?". Ms. Siska shown great concern when Yayan goes missing after entering the school. Overall, they seem to have a friendly relationship, though Yayan appears to feel a little less trusting towards her. However, knowing Siska's twisted personality and betrayal she put on her students, it isn't clear whether she cares or not.
Ira[]
Ira and Yayan don't interact with each other much. Before Yayan and the rest of the group goes to explore the abandoned school, he briefly stops and asks Linda and Ira if they want to come inside too, but they refuse. Later, after night falls and Yayan goes missing. Ira is worried and comes inside to search for him right before she is possessed.
Trivia[]
- Yayan is the first character to disappear in DreadOut and the only one to never be seen again.
- He, Linda and Siska are the only three characters that visibly survived the events of the first game.
- Like Doni, Yayan seems a little too old to be a high school student at age 19, when the average age for a high school student to graduate is 18. It is possible that he was held back a class, but considering his high intelligence, it seems unlikely.
- It's speculated that Siska locked Yayan in the bathroom stall, to find an excuse for others to stick along so she can fulfill her plan without students arguing to leave.
