The Problem

The internet is an extraordinary educational and communication tool, placing vast worlds of knowledge at our fingertips.Yet it has also been exploited by the sex industry, sexual predators, traffickers and other dangerous and even criminal enterprises resulting in a perfect storm for the online exploitation and abuse of children. Two of the most pressing dangers are children's free and easy access to explicit pornography and predators' anonymous, often unmonitored access to minors. In addition, children face cyberbullying, online exploitation and sextortion, exposure to violent or self-harm content, addictive social media and gaming platform designs that fuel excessive screen time, mental health impacts such as anxiety and depression, privacy invasion and other risks. Additionally, law enforcement limitations and challenges abound, legislation often moves at a snail's pace and naïve kids engage in risky online behavior. Parents, educators and other caring adults must serve as the first line of defense to protect kids online, but they are often uninformed or ill-equipped to deal with these threats.

Together, this combination of unrestricted content, unfiltered contact, and profit-driven digital design creates a high-risk environment that leaves families struggling to protect their children in an increasingly connected and evolving AI driven digital world.
