About Us

Food, Equity, Entrepreneurship, & Development (FEED) is a food justice and sustainability consulting student organization. We generate answers to business-oriented questions for businesses that we believe are working to improve the food system. We create meaningful research projects designed to provide our clients with useful advice. Then, a team of carefully-selected students completes the project over the course of a semester.

As a part of the UC Berkeley campus community, FEED provides professional development opportunities and educational, food justice-oriented events to develop the skills of our consultants and prepare them for the variety of challenges, social settings, and people they will engage with in our projects.

If you are interested in working on a project with us, please feel free read our client testimonials and contact us!

Our History

FEED came together as a romance between two different worlds in the UC Berkeley community: the Haas School of Business and the Food Systems minor at the College of Natural Resources. In 2015, three Haas students — Silvia Ricchiardi, Brianna Bottle, and Charlie James — bonded over their mutual realization that the business school’s culture was narrowly focused on just a few career paths, and that people like themselves with unique interests were overlooked.

All three of the students wanted to see more connection between their business school and issues that really mattered to them as Food Systems minors (such as food deserts, exploitation of food workers, and the corporate consolidation of the food industry). Thus, FEED was born. The co-founders created FEED to create partnership within these two seemingly disparate communities – and to use this partnership to create positive change.
