A passionate journalist and advocate for menstrual health, Florence founded FlowReady to empower young girls with education and dignity.

Florence is a dedicated multifaceted activist focusing on population issues, girls’ rights, and environmental protection. As the Founder and CEO of FlowReady, she leads efforts to improve menstrual education and combat period poverty among young girls in East Africa and beyond. She oversees program design, partnerships, and strategic initiatives, working to empower girls, dismantle period stigma, and promote sustainable menstrual health solutions. Her challenging menarche experience inspired her to found FlowReady. Her mission: educate and empower young girls about menstruation, ensuring they’re prepared and supported. From personal struggle to global impact.

An award-winning journalist, Florence began her career in 2010 with media outlets in Kenya and Uganda (where she wants to see a fertility transition). Since then, she has tirelessly campaigned and communicated about the interconnectedness of population, health, and the environment. She holds a Master of Science in Population and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She is particularly passionate about communicating issues related to SRHR, the climate crisis, and broader environmental concerns. Her love for digital media and her alignment with Population Connection’s mission where she now works make her feel she’s found her perfect role at the organization.

FlowReady Remote Work Policy

At FlowReady, we embrace a flexible, mission-driven approach to work. Our team operates primarily remotely to support collaboration across regions and maximize our impact efficiently.

Key Principles:

  • Remote-first: We are a remote-first organization. Team members are encouraged to work from locations that support their productivity, well-being, and connectivity.
  • Flexible schedules: We recognize that people work best at different times. While some coordination is necessary for meetings and deadlines, we value outcomes over hours.
  • Accountability & Communication: Clear, consistent communication is essential in a remote setting. We use tools like email, messaging apps, and regular virtual check-ins to stay aligned.
  • Inclusion & Accessibility: Our remote model helps us include diverse voices, including those who may not have access to traditional office settings. We strive to accommodate time zones and internet limitations.
  • Occasional In-person Meetings: When possible and budget allows, FlowReady may hold periodic in-person retreats or team-building sessions to deepen collaboration and relationships.

FlowReady’s remote work culture is built on trust, responsibility, and a shared passion for menstrual equity. We believe flexibility supports sustainability – for both people and the planet.
