Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

  • Potential impact How big of an impact could the project have on the company? How big of an impact could it have beyond the company? 
  • Quality of the idea How creative and unique is the project? Does the concept exist already? If so, how much does the project improve on it? Is it an application that would encourage a user to use it more than once for its benefits? (if applicable)
  •  Implementation of the idea Includes how well the participant executed the idea. 
  • Technological implementation Does the project demonstrate quality software development? Does the project thoroughly leverage the required tool? How is the quality of the code? (if applicable) 
  • Design Is the user experience and design of the project well thought out? Is there a balanced blend of frontend and backend in the software? (if applicable)

 

 

HackBurst 2024 - Code of Conduct Introduction

At QBurst, we are committed to fostering a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants in our Hackathon. This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behavior expected from all participants, mentors, judges, and organizers to ensure a positive experience for everyone.

1. Respect & Inclusion
  • Be Respectful: Treat all participants, judges, mentors, and organizers with courtesy and respect. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of disrespect will not be tolerated.
  • Inclusion: QBurst encourages participation from people of all backgrounds and skill levels. Harassment based on gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, race, ethnicity, religion, or any other characteristic is strictly prohibited.
2. Fair Play
  • Original Work: All code, designs, and projects must be original and developed during the hackathon unless otherwise stated. Using pre-existing codebases or plagiarizing content is not permitted.
  • Teamwork: Teams can consist of up to 3 members. Sharing ideas and working together in teams is encouraged, but ensure that credit is given where it is due.
  • No Sabotage: Do not interfere with or sabotage other teams’ projects. Respect the efforts and time of your fellow participants.
3. Integrity & Honesty
  • Transparency: Be transparent about your work and contributions. Do not misrepresent your work or claim ownership of someone else’s ideas.
  • Honesty: Ensure that your submissions reflect your own ideas, creativity, and effort. Avoid manipulating the results or misrepresenting the progress of your project.
4. Responsible Use of Technology
  • No Malicious Behavior: Do not develop or use technologies that are harmful or disruptive, such as malware, phishing, or unethical data usage. All projects must adhere to ethical standards and not infringe on privacy or security.
  • Compliance with Legal Standards: Ensure that your project complies with all applicable laws and regulations, including those related to intellectual property, data privacy, and security.

6. Judging & Prizes
  • Objective Evaluation: All projects will be evaluated based on their originality, impact, technical difficulty, and completeness. Participants must respect the judges’ decisions, which will be final.
  • Prize Distribution: Any prizes awarded must be shared fairly among team members, and all team members must adhere to the event rules and eligibility criteria to qualify for prizes.
7. Consequences of Violations

Participants who violate this Code of Conduct may be disqualified from the Hackathon and, depending on the severity of the violation, may face further actions, including being banned from future events.

8. Agreement to Participate

By registering for the QBurst Hackathon, all participants agree to abide by this Code of Conduct. We trust that everyone will work together to create a positive, fun, and productive environment.
