Magic

Magic (魔法, Mahou) is the ability to manipulate different aspects of reality.

Magic has an immense variety of effects that can be used in a near limitless number of ways, from mundane utility purposes to powerful high-level attacks; in fact, many of the world's most powerful individuals possess a form of magical ability.

However, Magic slowly drains the user of their stamina and, if they should reach their limit, runs the risk of eating away at their very life force.

Overview

Magic is used throughout the world of Helck, both by humans and demons alike.

Through personal powers, or the use of Divergent Swords, it is possible to cast various magical techniques. Their attributes have strengths and weaknesses. Against an opponent with a bad matchup, one's strength in battle may be lessened, and it's possible to lose a battle against someone you could normally defeat.

In addition to the five fundamental elements, specialties in the Light and Darkness attributes also exist. Darkness is strong against all five basic elements. Light is strong against darkness, but appears neutral to the rest.

Attributes

In Volundio, Magic is categorized into different Attributes (属性, Zokusei) that everyone is born with and are practically impossible to change. There are five primary attributes which are as followed: Fire, Wind, Earth, Lightning and Water.

However, besides the initial five, there exists two other attributes beyond them which are Light and Darkness. In order to master one's attribute you must hone it, which is usually done via methods like image training.

It is also possible for the five fundamental elements to transform, in which case their compatibility will also transform, for example: turning a Water into that of Ice results in the latter losing the former's advantage over Fire.
