Working to relieve the pressure
IIHUK is a pioneering national charity dedicated to
supporting people living with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH),
their families and the medical professionals who care for them.
Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension (IIH) is a rare condition where the fluid pressure inside the skull becomes raised for no clear reason, putting pressure on the brain, spine and the optic nerves. It affects around 1-3 in every 100,000 people and can cause persistent headaches, visual changes and, in severe cases, permanent sight loss if left untreated. While IIH is most often diagnosed in adult women, it can affect people of any age, gender, or background – including men and children.
IIHUK is here to support everyone living with IIH, raise awareness and fund vital research to improve understanding and care for all.
