Manager & Head Coach - Richard Griffin

Returning for a second season as Field Manager, Richard Griffin is the only head coach the Ironbacks have known. A native of Kingston, Jamaica, Griff  brings 53 years of experience in and around MLB, working with both the Expos and Blue Jays, in addition to covering Major League baseball as columnist for the Toronto Star from 1995 to 2018. Griff developed his own unique style of in-game-management, that he credits to working with and tapping into the vast knowledge and experience of 19 different MLB managers, from Gene Mauch and Felipe Alou, to Cito Gaston and John Schneider. Griff has attended 39 World Series and witnessed over 5,300 MLB games. The Stoney Creek, ON resident brings with him 22 years of managerial experience at elite Ontario levels in Oakville and Burlington.

Assistant Coach - Tyson Gomm

Tyson Gomm is a dedicated coach with a strong playing background and a passion for developing the next generation of athletes. He played five professional seasons with the Welland Jackfish, winning two championships and gaining valuable experience at the highest levels of independent baseball.

Before turning pro, Tyson competed at the collegiate level with the College of Southern Idaho and Parkland College, and represented his country as a member of the Team Canada Junior National Team. He was also named MVP of the Toronto Blue Jays Academy Futures Showcase in high school.

Tyson now gives back to the game through coaching roles with Bullettproof Baseball Academy and Toronto Hitting Club, where he focuses on building strong fundamentals, a competitive mindset, and a love for the game in every athlete he works with.
