Сирия и Иордания заключили договор о поставке газа на Дейр-Али к югу от Дамаска. Разумеется, у Иордании своего газа нет, 85% она получает от Израиля, остальное - от Египта. Чтобы поставлять газ Дамаску, у Египта арендовано регазификационное судно, через которое сжиженный газ, закупаемый на глобальном рынке, будет поставляться в идущий через Иорданию газопровод для Сирии (какие именно молекулы газа, израильские, катарские или египетские, будут в итоге попадать на сирийскую электростанцию, разумеется, никто определить не сможет). Оплачивать все это будет Катар.
Между тем, Дамаск восстановил контроль над крупными нефтяными и газовыми месторождениями, в последние полтора десятилетия управлявшимися курдами, и активно занимается восстановлением разрушенной энергетической инфраструктуры, привлекая американский, катарский и саудовский капитал.
После телефонного разговора с президентом США Дональдом Трампом сирийский лидер Ахмад а-Шараа второй раз за четыре месяца был принят в Кремле. На открытой части встречи Владимир Путин, среди прочего, поздравил а-Шараа "с интеграцией Заевфратья", то есть с фактической ликвидацией курдской автономии.
