 Jermaine Lamarr Cole (born January 28, 1985), professionally known as J. Cole, is an American rapper and record producer. Born on a military base in Germany and raised in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Cole gained recognition as a rapper following the release of his debut mixtape, The Come Up, in early 2007. Over the span of his career, he has been nominated for eleven Grammys and has had all six of his studio albums certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). He has sold 14 million albums and 77 million digital singles in the United States. His artistic influences include 2Pac, JAY-Z, Eminem, Nas, and André 3000. |
