On Sycamore Gap

My brand new book is for everyone who knew the famous silhouette of the tree that stood at Sycamore Gap. This is a book of growth, loss and renewal, a song from soil to soul, about how we all live where the earth meets the sky.

For those who took shelter, saw its branches against the sky or heard the leaves dance; for all the picnics next to it and the proposals under it. Grown against the wide sky of Northumbria, at a place of borders where ancient history meets our modern lives, the tree that stood for so long still has much to say.

A space to explore neurodiversity through creative writing, featuring work from neurodivergent writers and themed prompts. Whether you identify as neurodivergent or simply want to engage with different ways of thinking, this session is for you.

MONDAYS | 6:30–8:00 PM
Workshop tickets are priced according to people’s ability to pay. I recognise that people experience different costs and what can matter most is how much is left once basic needs (things like food, housing, and clothing) are covered. Read the descriptions below and see which one fits your position the best. (It probably won’t be an exact fit: just pick what feels right for your situation. I’m not going to ask you to prove it)

£20 per session: For those who: Are financially stable and can afford discretionary spending; have savings, own or rent a home, and can take holidays.

£15 per sessionFor those who: Cover basic needs but may have occasional financial stress; have some savings and can afford public/private transport; can take occasional holidays without major financial strain

£10 per session: For those who: struggle to meet basic needs like rent, food, and transport; have little or no savings; experience financial stress that affects daily life

If you would like to join one of these Monday night drop-in sessions you must be signed up to Kate’s mailing list to receive the zoom & payment links, and readings in advance.
