TRepid is an agent-based forward simulator (IBM - individual-based model) for population genetics and nucleotide evolution of transposable elements (TEs). Population individuals, as well TEs, are treated as independent agents and interact according to selectable ecological and evolutionary models, thus providing a realistic empirical simulating framework.
The main interface for novice users (without programming experience) is via a trepid.conf config file, where all simulation parameters. The API is also fully exposed and documented for use within interactive Perl shells or scripts.
