Westbound I-465 will be reduced to 1 lane from mile marker 32 to 30.5 from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday

Wednesday, June 10

Temporary closure of the westbound I-465 exit ramp to northbound U.S. 31 and southbound Meridian Street from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday. The detour for this route is to continue westbound on I-465, exit at Michigan Road, proceed southbound on Michigan Road, re-enter I-465 eastbound, and exit on to northbound U.S. 31 or southbound Meridian Street.

Northbound Meridian Street between 96th Street and the I-465 interchange will be reduced to 2 lanes. The left lane will lead to U.S. 31 northbound and 106th Street and the right lane will lead to the WB I-465 ramp

Phase 3 – Spring to late Fall 2026

This phase includes widening eastbound and westbound I-465 ramps to northbound U.S. 31, along with additional improvements to accommodate for the rapid regional growth and number of vehicles using the interchange.

During this time, a temporary traffic pattern shift will be in place along U.S. 31/Meridian Street from 106th Street to 96th Street. Northbound traffic will utilize the existing southbound U.S. 31/Meridian Street lanes by following posted signs. Traffic will switch back to the existing northbound lanes just south of 106th Street.

Closure of 106th Street exit ramp to southbound Meridian Street through late fall 2026. The 106th Street exit ramp to I-465 will remain open

Project Overview

Level Up 31 is the interchange modification project for US 31 and I-465 in Hamilton County. It includes the modification of the I-465/US 31 north interchange, seven bridge deck overlays, and related work on US 31 from I-465 to 116th Street in Carmel. The project will increase capacity for west to north and east to north movements to create better traffic flow and enhance safety.

Construction Schedule

Crews are adding capacity and increasing safety and traffic flow in the four-phase project that concludes in late 2027.
