Data at NOAA

Use this guide to help you find datasets provided by NOAA.

Start Here

Welcome

This guide provides instructions on how to find and access the most commonly used NOAA data portals. While it is not an entirely comprehensive list of all the data that NOAA provides, the guide houses the most popularly used data all in one spot, and serves as a big step into NOAA-centric research.

You can find the names of these NOAA data portals on the left-hand side of this guide. Clicking on their names will provide more information such as what the datasets are, how to access the data portal, and how to search for information on them.

What is Data?

For this guide, data is defined as NOAA-collected data. It is information created by NOAA instruments, people, and tools. Primary data is the raw data you may find on the websites listed here, and secondary data is data that is analyzed.

The focus for much of this data is in meteorology, climatology, oceanography, and fisheries

What About Publications?
