Northfield Historical Society Mastodon Tooth - 3D model by Jangojips - Sketchfab
Northfield Historical Society Mastodon Tooth - 3D model by Jangojips - Sketchfab
This 3D scan is the result of a collaboration between the Science Museum of Minnesota and the good people of Northfield Historical Society in Northfield, Minnesota. This tooth is one of the few mastodon fossils in the record that we know for sure was discovered in Minnesota. It has research value to the Science Museum of Minnesota, and the folks at Northfield Historical Society were generous and willing to allow their mastodon tooth to be 3D scanned by me. Thank you, Northfield Historical Society! Specimen Number 1980.15.01. This fossil was discovered in 1918 by a man named Leslie Shaw in “Mr. Cody’s Gravel Pit” outside of Dundas, Minnesota. It sat in Mr. Shaw’s living room for a few years before being taken to Professor Osborn of Hamline University in 1929. Professor Osborn Identified the fossil as a mastodon tooth. 100 years later: we agree! - Northfield Historical Society Mastodon Tooth - 3D model by Jangojips

m2 prehistoric horse tooth - New Ulm's "black tooth" - 3D model by Jangojips
A prehistoric horse tooth from New Ulm Minnesota. Science Museum of Minnesota Accession Number: SMMP2020.7.33 Is this a very old modern horse or a prehistoric horse tooth? In order to know, we will have to a destructive carbon dating test–so I was asked to create this 3D model of the tooth BEFORE that happened. - M2 prehistoric horse tooth - 3D model by Jangojips
Melrose MN Bison Skull - 3D model by Jangojips
Melrose MN Bison Skull - 3D model by Jangojips
This skull is currently on display in Melrose, MN at the [Melrose Area Historical Society Museum.] This skull is from an extinct prehistoric bison named Bison, occidentalis. It was discovered in a farm field in Melrose, Minnesota by Avery Toenies and subsequently donated to the museum in the mid 2000’s. Bison occidentalis was an intermediate species of bison in between the larger extinct Bison antiquus and the smaller extant (still alive) Bison bison. This skull was about 2x larger than a bison skull I have in my own collection. This was the largest bison skull I have personally ever seen. Special thanks to Roger Paschke at the Melrose Area Museum, Marcus Brandel, My mom (Karen), and my wonderful husband. If you ever find yourself in central minnesota, the Melrose Area Museum is well worth a visit! - Melrose MN Bison Skull - 3D model by Jangojips
Melrose Bison Horn - 3D model by Jangojips
Melrose Bison Horn - 3D model by Jangojips
This is a horn core and partial cranium fragment from a prehistoric bison: probably Bison occidentalis It was found in a field near Melrose, Minnesota and is currently on display at the Melrose Area Museum. Melrose Area Museum Number: L.L.Havermart (spelling?) 8-5-04 2004.8.87 This fossil is smaller than the Melrose Bison Cranium, but measuring from the tip of the horn core and the cranium piece–if we had more of this cranium–it would be LARGER than the other skull if the proportions were identical. I highly recommend a visit to the Melrose Area Museum. - Melrose Bison Horn - 3D model by Jangojips
