  • FYI from the Borough of Matawan:
After a tremendous amount of discussion and consideration, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel tomorrow’s parade. This was not a decision we wanted to make, but with the weather forecast continuing to remain uncertain, we could not wait until the morning to make the call.

We know how much this annual tradition means to our community, and we are truly disappointed.

We want to sincerely thank everyone who worked so hard in preparation for the parade — especially our DPW team, the Rec’n Crew kids, Recreation Commission volunteers, and all of the friends and community members who dedicated their time and effort behind the scenes.

Thank you as well to all of the organizations, special guests, local businesses, and sports organizations that planned to participate and help make this event special.

And to our sponsors:
• John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals and Cremation Services Inc. (Kevin G.
Morgan, Manager Lic. #4484)
• Mullaney & Associates Physical Therapy, LLC
• Mullaney Tire & Car Care Center

Thank you for your continued support of this important community tradition.

Finally, thank you to everyone who planned to line the streets to cheer on the marchers and join us in honoring and remembering the brave men and women who have served our country. While we are saddened that the parade cannot take place this year, the meaning behind Memorial Day remains as important as ever.

We appreciate everyone’s understanding and support.
  • MAPL's social worker, James, will be having a second casual meet-and-greet in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month on May 30th from 10 am-2 pm. • “Nerds like us are allowed to be unironically enthusiastic about stuff. Nerds are allowed to love stuff, like jump-up-and-down-in-the-chair-can’t-control-yourself love it... when people call people nerds, mostly what they’re saying is ‘you like stuff.’ Which is just not a good insult at all. Like, ‘you are too enthusiastic about the miracle of human consciousness’.” - John Green
