- 511,000 Illinois adults, or 1 in 20, have serious thoughts of suicide each year.

Help us reduce the stigma and raise awareness for mental health. We will continue to provide education, support, and advocacy for individuals with mental health challenges and their families.
Illinois is facing a mental health crisis.NAMI Illinois: Standing Together for Humanity
In this time of escalating rhetoric, violence, and fear, NAMI Illinois stands united in our commitment to compassion, justice, and the dignity of every person. We know that trauma, discrimination, and systemic injustice are deeply linked to mental health, and we are seeing the impacts every day as the actions by the federal government continue to threaten our communities across Illinois.
At NAMI Illinois, we reject the dehumanization, criminalization, and marginalization of our families, neighbors, and communities. We refuse to accept a society shaped by fear, division, and violence. Instead, we choose empathy. We choose compassion. We choose to stand together. At NAMI, we believe no one is alone.

NAMI Illinois Meeting the Moment Campaign
About 500,000 Illinoisans face losing their health insurance because of federal cuts to Medicaid. Medicaid is a lifeline for people with mental health and substance use conditions, with 25% of all funding for these services coming from the program.
NAMI Illinois will continue showing up ready to support communities in need. We remain committed to providing free, essential mental health resources, assistance, and advocacy to our Illinois neighbors, with no eligibility requirements. Now, more than ever, mental health awareness and advocacy are crucial.
NAMI Illinois is planning for a substantial increase in need for our services ... and we need your help to support the infrastructure of our work.
