That was that day, about a week ago, when I went off late in the afternoon to get wine and cheese. Kiddo fell asleep during the car ride and I think I hit jackpot (or how to have bit of free attention on keeping another alive). My card get rejected… Expired. Happy coincidence, had just enough for the check out. Then, slowly it got solved, but – point is – this was crucial to this week’s detox. An allround detox, deep spring clean, a kind of reset retreat, of lockdown of closing the shop.

It is true

After years (no joke) of flirting with these water filters, yesterday, around midnight in the middle of almost-fullmoon insonmia, I ordered the Berkey

Another sign, something is defintly about to… come. So, before… I am ready with my chutney, bugs, and filter (have also bought a kilo of brewers’ yeast and oats and rice!).

That’s it.. what else to say: my water will now be clorine free, fluor free (bought the extra filter set), and forever a source of good loving energy to pervade all of my beaitufully crafted animal cells. I feel more alive just as I wait for the courier to ring my bell.

kitchen bugs

Its’s not what you think. this will not be about fruit flies.. but could be, because they are here and all around my indoor pots. Maybe a sign of what’s to come in my next post.

This is about Kefir, Kombucha, Caspian sea yogurt, and sourdough. All of htese are growing, thriving, (and maybe smiling) in my kitchen. I am excited. Finally it is working out.

This is not my first date with The bugs. Oh. no. I had them around a couple of times. Yet now is the right time to look at the bubbles rising and feel joy. Funny how life makes life happy. Yes, these alien looking cookies and grains and slime are alive. Are actully communities of bacteria and fungus that found a way to prosper by giving humans something. A miriad of goodness actually: better gut health, better hair and skin, better energy levels, better sight ?! I do not know much more. A quick research told me what i already knew: I wanted them. I got them from the sharing group and have been happy ever since…

Well, lets talk gas ! or not… you surely get the piture. every system needs time to adjust to change and so did my lower intestine.

I get them going folwoing simple steps and at this point do not use my intuitieve and creative skilss too much. For the water kefir and the kombucha I like ginger and orange flavours. Just that. The yogurt is actually on hold at the moment as i am not such a dairy-lover. And the sourdough is fed solely with organic wheat flour and unclorified water.

OK, now i feel the need to check on them, bugs, and tell them all about how they’re on the internet — interesting story how in “times that are passed” farmers would go tell the beehives about someone’s departure or any important event in the family. So, yeah, these bugs are now part of my family.

Chutney away

The sensation that something is to come. It came to me, as I last remember, just before my child’s birth. It was 2am and I was in the kitchen suddenly up from the insistent thought calling me to chutney all the fruit and tomatoes. I had had a blessing way cerimony where I was offered a big basket of apples. The garden was bountiful with blushing tomatoes. We would not have time to eat it all before… Before, what? Nevermind: chutney

And here i find myself in the creative mix of onion, vinagre and sugar again. Before… Something.

From my lovely veggie box I now look at the incoming goodies with a chutney expert eye. Now that i have never tried to chutney before. LEt’s start by saying, I’m quite the intuitive creative chef. Never twice the same movement or ingriidients. Can you imagine how good is spicy rock-pear with water-cress chutney? Or a pepper filled tomato chutney? Tried a not spicy version to pleasse the toddlers just with massive amounts of courgette and some carrots. First of this season was a mushroom rose-tomatoe gingery version. Bring on the chappati bread – another must of my daily routines now which i will dab you on later. And that is that: chutney all that uncertainty away. There will be food. You can: make a wholesome pasta and just add chutney; make brown rice with steamed veggies and some side glorious chutney squished on the side; travel back in your iamginatio to india and eat your chutney-filled paratha bread with your bare hands, boil potatoes and.. you got it. Taste is now available from homemade mixes stored in the fridge and labeled creatively as the recipes show themselves to my minds’ eye.
