About Us
Property History
Before adopting the name officially in 1899, the legendary Bethlehem Steel Corporation first opened its doors in 1857 as the Saucona Iron Company. By installing blast furnace technology in 1863, Bethlehem Steel was able to produce much of the equipment used by the United States armed forces in World War I and World War II including 1,100 ships; more than any other builder during the war.

Bethlehem Steel closed its doors in 1995.
In 2007, Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem purchased the 126-acre former Bethlehem Steel plant, the largest brownfield site in the United States and opened the casino on May 22, 2009. The area was remediated in accordance with the site-specific environmental standard, which demonstrates our commitment to preservation. Putting the historical Bethlehem Steel site back into use represents a re-birth for the city, and can be used as a model for other communities across the country.

Our Properties
Among our properties in the United States are two AAA Five Diamond luxury resorts on the Las Vegas Strip: The Venetian® Resort~Hotel~Casino and The Palazzo® Resort~Hotel~Casino. In addition to being the world's largest Five Diamond rated resort, the properties offer not only luxury and entertainment but when combined with Sands® Expo and Convention Center, The Venetian | The Palazzo also make up the largest LEED certified building on the planet, a testament to our commitment to sustainability. Also in the United States is Sands® Casino Resort Bethlehem, situated on a historic steel mill in beautifully verdant Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
In Asia, we created and own the iconic Marina Bay Sands® in Singapore. We also developed - through our majority-owned subsidiary Sands China Ltd. - a collection of leading properties in Macau, including The Venetian® Macao Resort Hotel, Sands® Macao, Four Seasons Hotel Macao, The Plaza Macao, as well as our most recent addition: Sands Cotai Central®, which boasts the world's largest Conrad, Sheraton and Holiday Inn hotels.

About Sands Bethlehem
Sands Bethlehem opened its doors on May 22, 2009 with slot machines only as well as restaurants, bars, and entertainment. In 2010, Sands added Table Games. The Sands Hotel opened in May 2011 with 300 luxury rooms and meeting space designed for a wide range of events. Additionally in 2011, a 2500-seat Sands Event Center opened, featuring top artists and entertainers. Also, in November 2011, The Sands Retail Outlets opened, bringing a unique shopping destination to the Lehigh Valley.
