Oh yeah I got a Steam Deck a few days ago. I forgot to mention anything about it here.
Should've done it a while ago honestly. My wife and I love playing stuff together but we're starting to run out of splitscreen games. And now that she has a dedicated gaming machine there's a ton more games opened up to us.
It's a neat little device! I'm planning on writing a bit more about it when I have some time.
I'm learning a lot from this game dev side job I picked up, but the biggest thing is how awesome it feels to get paid doing something you enjoy for a change.
Once it's over I think I'll be pretty remotivated to start looking for a full-time job change again.
I think I need to check out #Deadlock again after the recent update. Anyone got any heroes they especially like playing as?
I've discovered that shader programming is my weakness.
Coming up on two days of feeling really sore after the gym and I'm starting to wonder if I should have eased into it more...
So uh, I'm getting paid to make a game now.
Cool things I didn't expect to happen in 2026.
I'm tempted to start posting about how great modern hardware is just to balance out some of the threads I've been reading in my feed...😉
Shoutout to the guy in my theater row who managed to fall asleep while watching 28 Years Later.
Learning about Linux ten years ago: "Wow there's so much customization! Multiple workspaces! Dev tooling!"
Learning about Linux today: "Wow an OS that isn't trying its hardest to pick a fight with me!"
Sharing a few thoughts about Skate Story, my favorite game of 2025.

I made an announcement post today that I'll be shutting down my gemini capsule soon. I'm letting my .xyz domain expire and it'd be too much hassle to bring it to my .com domain considering I'm really not active on gemini these days. And all my posts from the last few years are on my website anyway.
When I shut it down it will have been 5 years since I started it. End of an era for sure.
I can't believe it's 2021 already.
I'm having a fun time with it but wow the writing for this season of Stranger Things is painful.
This is a super cool website.

To all the other "computer people" going to see family during the holidays:
When they complain about their iPhone being messed up, the option you're looking for this year is "reduce transparency" under accessibility settings.
You're welcome in advance.
About to start a fun challenge where I work on migrating more stuff to my new server while suffering from sleep deprivation from a crappy sleep last night.
I just rolled credits on Skate Story. Amazing game, probably my GOTY. It's easily going in my list of all time favorites.
I'm doing a big server upgrade and consolidation. Here's some things I learned during the first part while setting up Proxmox and TrueNAS.
