The Story of My First Job

───── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ─────

A long long time ago, before the time itself was invented (well, not that long, but I like cinematic intros and this company deserves no less) I was spending all my days playing with Blender, then, one day, Aeon Virtual, the pioneers of high-quality software for interactive real estate presentations, has born and I started working with Blender 🙂

Modelled and textured the building on the preview image (visible at 2:17)

Yup, they were my very first paid job! Back then pretty much no one was working like them. By that time most real estate presentations were exclusively video… and I remember the quality of the video.

Aeon Virtual was presenting everything in real-time, with high quality, fluidly, and right in front of you!

Modelled and textured a great amount of the visible graphics.

Modelled and textured about 90% of the assets in this video

I’ve been found at the Blenderartist.org forum, after replying to a job opportunity! Back then I was sharing all my work on an, eventually, very famous car of that community, the Opel GT by rogper.

Awesomely, since then, I’ve collaborated with them completing any task they need to bring to life. Ranging from main buildings to background buildings, furniture, vehicles, scene assembly… well I ain’t lying much if I say that, by now, I’ve worked on everything, related to graphics creation, for Aeon Virtual.

DrowElfMorwen’s Avatar Worlds

Hello friends!

For many years I had the pleasure to collaborate with DrowElfMorwen’s to help to bring her impressive visions, mostly inspired by James Cameron “Avatar” movie, to life.

Toruk Attack
Modeled/textured/rigged Toruk and modeled/rigged the Banshee.

I’ve worked on a bit of everything. From the most famous dragons to the smallest plant. Every single object needed to have pretty much the exact detail of the original ones, but I had to accomplish this without the high-quality references the original artists had 🙂

Skuka :: Sagittaria
Modeled, textured, and rigged the Sagittaria.

… So, many pictures, many movie re-runs, and many adjustments later, all of DEM’s ideas started to come to life. This creature, the Sagittaria, will only appear in future movies.

The Banks of the Kapsavan
Made many of the plants and animals here.

I not only worked on the animals but also on the plants. I really lost track of the number of plants I’ve created so far, but I’m positive that we are in the 3 digits range 😛

Under Surface
Modeled, textured/rigged the dolphin.

One surprising coincidence, about me and DEM, is that we have in common the love for cetaceans. In between the Avatar world, I also had the great pleasure to model for her a couple of species of dolphins and killer whales.

There are countless scenes/renderings, that she beautifully made and that truly bring the models I made to Life, so stop wasting time here and go right to her gallery 🙂

Tentska and Kawte :: Aerial Hunter
Modeled and rigged Banshee and accessories.

Until next time! 😉

It as been a long time since I’ve last updated this blog. For that I apologize very much!

If you had been following me, when I was a youngster blender apprentice, you probably know that at some point I was trying to make a short animation titled “Resilience Satelle”. Well… I still am 🙂

The Real Stuntman02

Hey there

Stuntman02 returns and this time in Real lighting conditions (cycles renderer) and with p.o.v. sports camera attached

Stuntman02 the Virtual Stuntman.
Although he doesn’t feel pain all the stunts have at least a slight probability of survival.
Stuntman02 loves his job and faces every job with a smile… but can he have a dark side?

TS Game characters released

Project Topsecret was a Acclaim project intended to be the very first 100% community developed video game.

Don’t tell me you didn’t heard anything about it!? …That’s perfectly natural because it failed and was definitely terminated on September 2009.

Anyway, here it is all I’ve done, fell free to use it as you wish… it’s also yours now. It’s free of any known restrictions.

The file contains a “Niby” mount, a rider with two customs and a unfinished Anterra  girl.

Juna

Hi! This is Juna Margarida de Oliveira… Yeah she does have a big name 🙂

Public Domain MarkEste trabalho (Juna, de Rogério Perdiz), identificado por Rogério Perdiz, está livre de restrições conhecidas devidas ao direito de autor e aos direitos conexos.

She was originally created to be (and still is) the Opel GT driver, but GT is taking allot time to make and because I want to make it good… it will take a wile.

So, instead of having Juna collecting dust in the hard drive, and because she may, somehow, help someone. Here she is, now and as long it last in all the glory of a Public Domain license.

The thing that would make me most happy would be someone actually using her on a short movie.

Project Topsecret

This is late news for me but it may still feel fresh to you 🙂

There’s a open source community developed video-game going on, it’s from Acclaim and is know as Project Topsecret

2736609154_71bf4a22db_o

During first half of 2008 I’ve modeled and textured somethings for them, namely a character and a mount.

I must say it was a pleasure to work for the the, at time know by the name, Team Dev-hat.

Here you can see the results:

2736611630_ee121ecd3b_o

2738619184_a3fac71960_o

The character has about 2500 polygons (read triangles) and the mount has about 4500

Of course it was all modeled/textured with Blender (www.blender.org), Gimp (www.gimp.org) and Inkscape (www.inkscape.org)

Later on this models were released under a public domain license

Let me introduce my self :)

Hi! My name is  Rogério Perdiz and I’m a self-thought animation movie lover and creator from Portugal. One day I found a super special software inside a video game magazine…

MegaScorethathad blender

… and I’ve started pressing some bottoms.

7 years later I completed one short animation, it’s called “Orion Tear“:

I’m an Open source person, so my movie-making tools are:

Blender  (www.blender.org)

Gimp (www.gimp.org)

Inkscape (www.inkscape.org)

CeltX (www.celtx.com) (not open source but still freeware)

All running in the Ubuntu SO (www.ubuntu.com)

My goal is to become a very good… super movie director 😉 and although I love animation I also would like to try live-action cinema someday.

From now on I’ll post here all major developments in my life, so stay tuned (so to speak) ^_^
