RORSHOK
We believe that giant tech monopolies are turning us against each other, making it difficult to really connect, messing up communities, and making the internet gross, sad, and exhausting.
Rorshok wants to try new ways to bring communities together, help people learn in new ways, and keep the internet fun.
Our goal is to keep these things free or very cheap, where people can be independent, safe, and equal.
We make a few ten minute English language audio updates about several places and topics. They include The Arctic, Argentina, Georgia, Ethiopia, Japan, Malawi, Multilateral Institutions, the Ocean, Poland, Serbia, and Spain.
We are hoping to add more.
Anybody who listens each week will be much better informed about these places and topics than they would be otherwise. One day, we hope to join listeners into communities.
We made a platform where anybody with access to a duplex/two sided printer can enter around fifteen thousand words into a small zine or chap book that is very easy to print, assemble, distribute, and carry around. We have a library of some of the ones people have made.
We have thought deeply about the question, “how would you create a community in a day?” Not some talking heads/audience/conference thing. Not a party or even worse, a “networking reception”. No idiotic ice breakers, or speed anything.
Well, we did it, have tried it out and it seems to work. It’s a new kind of gathering that creates a community from a group of people who mostly don’t know each other; a community usually around a topic and in a specific place.
We even have a digital platform for those groups to connect afterwards that is not owned by some horrible enshittified behemoth.
We are building a better way for groups, big or small, to choose things.
We even have advice for those who want to deshittify their digital lives.
Most of all, we are looking for people to join us.
You can find all this stuff above up on the menus or in the links. But if you are curious to learn more in general, just like the whole vibe, or want to explore being a part of all this somehow beyond just trying these things out, drop us a line; info at rorshok dot com, we’d love to talk.
