About Russell Aaron

I learned WordPress the hard way so you don’t have to.

It started at a journalism orientation. The professor said: “If no one can find your writing online, no one will publish it. You’ll need to build your own blog.” That sent me down a WordPress rabbit hole at 3am that never really ended.

Over 15 years I went from “how do you build a blog” to backend developer at WebDevStudios, support tech managing 550+ sites weekly at Maintainn, and Full Stack Developer at the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Downtown Las Vegas.

I’m a former Co-Host on the WP Watercooler Podcast Network, a WordCamp speaker, and the former lead organizer of the Las Vegas WordPress Meetup. I’ve sat in on the builds, done the support tickets, and I’m also listed as a developer on a couple big name WordPress.org plugins. I know this stuff cold. I teach it the same way I’d want it taught to me: straight, practical, no fluff.

AI is coming to WordPress.
I’m already in it.

AI is changing how WordPress sites get built, maintained, and scaled. Not in a theoretical “someday” way. Right now. The tools are here, the workflows are forming, and the people who figure this out early are going to have a serious edge.

I’m not going to stand up and call myself an AI guru. That’s not what this is. What I can tell you is that I’ve been using AI tools heavily in my own WordPress work: building products, writing code, debugging faster, and doing things in hours that used to take days.

It’s going to become part of how I teach WordPress too. Not replacing the fundamentals. You still need to understand backups, plugins, and DNS. But knowing how to put AI to work on top of a solid WP foundation? That’s the next level.

Honest take: I’m a power user, not a preacher. I’m learning this in real time on real projects, and I’ll share what actually works. Not hype, not theory. Follow the blog and you’ll see it as it happens.

AI-Assisted WordPress Development
Using tools like Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor to build custom WordPress functionality: plugins, theme mods, complex Gravity Forms logic. Without getting stuck in code for hours.
Faster Troubleshooting with AI
Pasting PHP errors, plugin conflicts, and weird WP behavior into AI tools and getting real, useful answers. A skill I use every single week. And something I can teach you to do too.
📦
Building WP Products with AI
Going from idea to working WordPress product significantly faster by using AI as a build partner. I’m doing this right now on my own projects and sharing what I learn along the way.

Coming: AI + WordPress Training
Once I’ve stress-tested enough of this in the real world, I’ll be adding AI-focused modules to my training sessions. You’ll be the first to know if you’re already working with me.
