Spring Clean Update highlights

The Spring Clean Update adds two main items that affect building and power systems in Rust. First is the armoured ladder hatch. This is basically a stronger version of the metal ladder hatch. It offers better protection for vertical access points in a base and is unlocked at tier 3. Second is the water wheel. This item is used for generating renewable power. 

Furthermore, this update brings a big change to the game’s tech tree unlocking process. Instead of unlocking items one by one, you can now pick any node, see the required path to it, and unlock everything in that path in one go. The shield system has also been adjusted to balance its use. To fix this, the hitbox now changes depending on how the shield is used.

The new overfishing mechanic helps reduce passive fishing. This makes heavily farmed areas temporarily stop producing valuable fish and only yield junk until they recover. Several bug fixes were implemented, along with updated textures and new models for items such as the Salvaged Axe and Medical Syringe. These changes are part of a wider set of improvements included in the update, covering multiple areas of the game.
