Frustrations
Jan. 27th, 2026 10:23 pmOMG the only approved meds were narcotics! Got them to let me have TYLENOL. I can have a whole 400 mg every 4 hours.
There is a chance I transfer to rehab tomorrow. I still can't figure out what to do with the leg while sleeping. And, as I suspected, my night nurse tonight is very sweet. Not so knowledgeable. They keep saying nothing greater than 90 degrees. In certain situations I think they actually mean less than. I do NOT want to dislocate this,or have the surgeon questioning his choices of patient. Because good lord that hip was so done. Beyond, in fact. Break out the chisel. Yup.
( Bodily functions discussion within )
Must remember this is a long journey.

1/27/2026 Inspiration Trail
Jan. 27th, 2026 12:37 pmI started my list about 8, when the sun was hitting the hillside just below the ridge. Right away I saw something unusual, two Canada Geese flying overhead. They are on my list almost every time because I can hear them from way down on the reservoir, but I very rarely see one. Walking north I head a Band-tailed Pigeon cooing, so I guess their breeding season is here, and there was a Black Phoebe on the first south-facing hillside, always a surprise. At the north end of the trail there was a flock of Golden-crowned Sparrows, TWO Say's Phoebes either fighting or courting, and a mixed flock of Western Bluebirds and House Finches with one Yellow-rumped Warbler. I've seen that mix before but not frequently and it's certainly colorful, although the Warbler had only the yellow rump. Now if only some Lesser Goldfinches had joined in. ( The list: )
Again no Acorn Woodpeckers. The only bird on the huge snag they frequent was, briefly, a Common Raven.

Flareup update
Jan. 26th, 2026 11:21 pmThe FOP "fun" continues... the prednisone helped a little but there's still lump and swelling and I can still only open my mouth so far.
Meet with a FOP specialist today via telemedicine (yay) and he suggested a second, longer course (though much of the "longer" is taper) because submandibular flares can be stubborn (and risky given the potential to affect breathing and swallowing). So ... more prednisone it is, sigh.

that's it, 843 days later.
Jan. 27th, 2026 01:05 amFor the first time since - I want to say October 7th 2023, though technically it's 2014 - but 843 days after, as of today, there are finally no more hostages in Gaza, living or dead.
I legit didn't think we'd get here. I hoped, but realistically, I was sure some would still be missing forever, lost to the fog of war and time. The big weight off was in October this year, when the last living 20 came back, but now, today, the final marker, and something families - and hopefully, maybe, this country - can begin to try to recover and move on, for real.
(Recovery also means getting rid of current leadership amen, which, easier hoped for than done. But I hope.)
Time to start collecting - packing away - tossing out - all of my yellow ribbons and flags, from my car, from my porch, from my bag. It's about time.
