PROCESS OF MEDIUMSHIP:
Each reading is unique and has its own special and personal earmarkings.
No psychic medium reading is alike and you will not experience it in the same way even twice.
Mediums are almost as varied as their readings. Each carrying his or her own unique style into the work.
But there are some constants in Mediumship that you should be aware of:
Mediumship is an interesting process considering we have little to no control on the outcome of each session. However, there are factors that often enhance or diminish the communication with spirit and our ability to identify with the information communicated.
VALIDATION: True Mediumship seeks validation from the spirit communicators that come through. This is known as Evidential Mediumship which is why Shauna is called an Evidential Spirit Medium.
There are many ways for a person in spirit to validate who they are to you. You the client or “sitter” who is receiving the reading and desiring the contact.
By your personal knowledge or through the personal knowledge of others known to the spirit person you can validate or invalidate certain information that comes forth as the result of a mediumistic reading.
IMPORTANT:
- Please be in a quite, private space by yourself where you won’t be interrupted. After we connect by phone or Zoom, please enable Do Not Disturb on your phone.
- Restricting your responses to yes, no or maybe is requested so that information can come from spirit to validate themselves. For example, please do not disclose their name, age, cause of their passing, etc.
- The more open, relaxed and positive you are the easier it is for the spirit to vibrate at the same frequency and come through to the medium. If the atmosphere or energy in a room is closed-minded, negative, or tense then it repels positive loving energy from spirit; thus, making the connection a lot harder, and communication a lot weaker.

Some of this information conveyed to the medium from the departed can be validated by you during the course of a reading; while some information may require validation after the reading with friends or other family members who are privy to this certain information.
Here are some examples of ways in which a spirit person may try to validate who they are :
Sometimes the medium will get the names very clearly or just the initial. Also the spirit person’s personality traits, appearance or personal habits may be described.
Most spirits are willing to show how they passed to the medium. Although, they may choose to convey more obscure information to demonstrate that they were with you on a particular occasion after their passing.
Often spirits will give important dates of reference to further validate themselves.
They have been known to mention other family members. Sometimes calling them by name.
what I really love, is if they mention a recent event, even if small, in your current life or other family members lives to show awareness of the here and now and their spiritual presence at the event.
They have been known to show past events.
They have even been known to show their favorite flower, book, song or any favorite from their life or even yours.
And just to surprise us. They have even been known to find some really unique way of validating themselves that we probably have not even thought of yet.
All in all, the spirit communicator (the person who transitioned) may choose to use any of the above methods or even none of them.
But they will find a way to validate themselves.
Sometimes a client will hold out for a specific validation that they asked the spirit for in advance. Sometimes this method works but also a lot of times it doesn’t . That is why it is very important not to place any preconceived expectations on the reading .
If you get your special validation great and if you do not, just know that it is not always possible. The spirit communicator chooses what information to give and the Medium’s job is to convey it as it is given and not to try to interpret it or make it fit.
It may be a good idea during a mediumistic reading to take notes. Sometimes the information might be of a very personal nature and you may not want a voice recording of it but it is up to you. For longer readings, you may not want to depend on memory to help you sort out the information later. One reason is because medium readings can have an overwhelming effect initially and you might forget. Although the feeling will last.
Although mediumistic readings have become a more common practice these days because of such mainstream psychic medium names as Tyler Henry, John Edward, Sylvia Browne, Teresa Caputo, and James Van Praagh, please do not dismiss the sacredness of having this wonderful form of contact. Do not expect Spirit Communication to be like Reality TV. (which is not reality at all).
A mediumistic (spirit) reading is and always should be considered a special event in a person’s life. If someone in spirit comes through that you do not know such as a grandparent you never met, please do not dismiss them because you didn’t know them. The fact is they know YOU and are communicating their love to you. If you are disappointed because they are not who you had an expectation to hear from YOU MAY MISS A VERY IMPORTANT MESSAGE. I have had the son or wife of a client’s neighbor come through to deliver a message to the family. Often, it is the spirit with the most urgency that will make his’her way through. There is no competition or jealousy in the spirit world, only love, support and the desire to heal.
