jump to recentphosh 0.52.0 is out ๐๐ฑ:
There's some important ๐ fixes and some user visible improvements - maybe a bit less than usual as the end of the year got a bit busy and we decided to rather not rush things in.
Check out the full release notes at https://phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.52.0/ for details or see ๐ for a short ๐งต

Hello ๐ ! This is #phosh's new fediverse presence. It'll have phosh's release announcements and posts/boosts of related projects. Looking forward to an interesting and bright Linux mobile future ๐ฑ
Many thanks to fosstodon for hosting us for so long!
Nice, hopefully some of these improvements make it back into calls/chatty/contacts
We've just merged some code to automatically scale up the on screen keyboard in landscape on larger screens like tablets also allowing it to use more horizontal space.
While at that we also added the necessary bits to scale up font and icons on the keyboard's keys accordingly which also helps on phones when going to higher resolutions.
There's still some low hanging improvements like scaling down in landscape on phones or improving the touch area for the shortcuts and completion bars. Let us know if you want to help with that!
One thing bothering us when playing videos with our little, mobile friendly video player #livi was that playing from video sites like #peeretube or #youtube showed very little information in #phosh's media player widget. This is now fixed on Livi's main branch where it fetches the necessary bits from #ytdlp to display a thumbnail and artist information making it a better companion to the pipeline app too.
We've improved a bunch of other things like faster seeking as well.
Wow, #phosh with the large bottom bar, haven't seen that for some time. Nice!
Going to #FOSDEM and interested in #Phosh? @devrtz will give a talk on Saturday 16:30 in the FOSS on Mobile devroom (UB4.132) and there'll be devices running Phosh in UD1 at the #linuxonmobile and @postmarketOS booths.
๐ฅณ Earlier today we landed the bits in #phosh to show the splash screens of running apps in the overview. This also hopefully looks a bit more polished than the initial version. Likely not much news on other platforms but this was bugging us for some time ๐ :
From the photo it looks like #phosh is under test there too, awesome and congrats to this big step in driving test automation forward!

FIrst screenshot we've seen from #Pocketblue with #Phosh on a real device:
For distros using recent #pipewire and #wireplumber: We've released #phosh 0.52.1 to fix a crash in gvc when switching to #bluetooth output: https://phosh.mobi/releases/rel-0.52.1/

New year, new release candidate!
We've tagged #Phosh 0.52~rc1 together with #feedbackd 0.8.8, gmobile #0.6.0 and #pfs 0.0.6 . pfs now ships a simple example file selector app, excuse the logo but we were thinking about a mobile file cabinet:
Happy 2๏ธโฃ0๏ธโฃ2๏ธโฃ6๏ธโฃ everyone!

๐คฉ Thanks for this! Looking forward to what will happen in 2026 ๐ฅณ

Happy holidays everyone ๐, Here's some update on how we'd like to inform client apps about display cutouts https://phosh.mobi/posts/xdg-cutouts/
Which of these on screen keyboard features would you have expected to be enabled by default in #Phosh (see follow up posts for more details on each feature):
That was unexpected. Thanks a lot for your interest in Phosh! (Original poll at https://berkeley.edu.pl/notice/B0x5vCs5tsaoEDBJpY but that doesn't render in the web version, hence a screenshot).
Nice, keep us posted about your progress!
While you can configure the alarm clock sound in #Phosh the default isn't great atm (it's the fallback from the freedesktop.org sound theme).
If you're into ๐ต music / sound design and want to provide us with a good morning wake up sound ๐ด please join us on Matrix at https://matrix.to/#/#phosh:phosh.mobi .
The sounds we ship in sound-theme-phosh are usually also used by distributions like @postmarketOS, , @mobian and others so this would make a real difference for our daily driving users.
A often requested feature was the ability to change brightness on the lockscreen without having to pull down the settings menu. This can be useful in changing ambient conditions when not using automatic brightness. #Phosh 0.52 will have a two finger swipe gesture for that:
