Join SGAC as Deputy Treasurer SGAC is looking for a professionally qualified and motivated young professional volunteer to join our Finance Team as Deputy Treasurer.Under the supervision of the SGAC Treasurer and in collaboration with the SGAC Finance Team, this position will be in charge of facilitating the financial soundness of SGAC, enabling the success of our events all over the world, undertaking finance and accounting related activities, and facilitating the issuance of impactful scholarships to SGAC members. The intent of the Deputy Treasurer is to be trained to take on the full role of Treasurer as stated in the sections below. The role of Treasurer is critical for SGAC’s success and growth and is considered one of the most important roles in the organisation. It comes with exciting opportunities and future career growth so apply now if you are interested in joining our leadership team.Deadline for applications: July 10th, 23:59 Central European Summer Time (CEST).Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Deputy Treasurer will work in cooperation with and under the supervision of the SGAC Treasurer to ensure SGAC’s finances are managed in compliance with legal obligations and the internal policies of the organisation. Day to day operations include monitoring the financial viability of SGAC events all over the world, training SGAC volunteers on financial and budgetary aspects, as well as budgeting and accounting processes for the broader organisation.All members of the SGAC Finance Team will be responsible for the following main tasks:Working closely with the SGAC Regional & Local Events Team, as well as SGAC Event Managers, to ensure the smooth organisation and conduct of SGAC events all over the worldReviewing scholarship reimbursement requests and liaising with scholarship winners as neededCreating standardised budgets, invoicing forms, and other financial templatesOperating finance tools and keeping financial records under controlOrganising and hosting training sessions for SGAC members on financial and budgetary aspects of their activities, including through the creation of relevant video tutorialsParticipating in regular meetings with the SGAC Treasurer to monitor progress and executing relevant action items resulting from such meetings.The Deputy Treasurer willWork with the Treasurer to support SGAC’s global events (SGFF, SGx, and SGC)Be involved in strategic discussions and high-level decision-making processesAssist the Treasurer in the coordination of SGAC budgeting activities and creation of financial targets that meet the broader organisational finance and strategy goalsBe trained by the Treasurer and Chairs with the goal to take over as Treasurer in October 2026All members of the SGAC Finance Team work under the supervision of the Treasurer and under the oversight of the SGAC Chairs. Please note that the advertised Deputy Treasurer role is a volunteer, unpaid position with an estimated commitment of up to 10 hours per week, based on financial obligations. Further requirements include the following:Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced international environment and meet tight deadlines without compromising the quality of workProven experience with team working, especially in a multidisciplinary and multicultural fashionStrong working knowledge of key remote working tools such as Google Workspace and Microsoft applicationsProfessional fluency (speaking, reading, and writing) in English.
