Supun Sanjaya Katugampala is a Sri Lankan, B.Sc. Special Degree (Chemistry) Honours alumnus, who graduated from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura in 2014. He delivered a speech on “Synthesis, Characterization and Biological Studies of Novel Copper-Triazine Complexes” on his original thesis at the 41st NOBCChE Annual Conference in New Orleans, USA. His dissertation research was guided by Prof. Theshini Perera. His research on Copper-Triazine is published as a full paper in Bioinorganic Chemistry and Applications 2018. Supun is a past student of D. S. Senanayake College. He joined the Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC) as an intern in 2013 and presented an abstract on “Red Rain in Sri Lanka” at the SPIE Astrobiology conference.
He is currently working at National Research Council of Sri Lanka (NRC) as a Scientific/Research Officer, where his responsibilities include initiating, managing and administrating Target Oriented Multidisciplinary Research Grants and serving as the Chief Organiser of the main event of President’s Awards for Scientific Publications since 2017. He is a member of the Department Procurement Committee of NRC since April 2017. Supun was a former Inorganic Chemist at Bureau Veritas CPS Lanka (PVT) Ltd and Teaching Assistant at University of Sri Jayewardenepura.
Supun is the Founder and the Managing Director of Orleans Institute Since January 2019 and he is an entrepreneur.
