Synopsis[]

The official synopsis for episode "Model 105" from Netflix:

Malcolm brings Kokoro online. The boys disagree about Misaki's motivations. Eiko realizes she's entering unknown territory.

Plot summary[]

People across the planet perform their day-to-day lives as Judgment Day, enacted by Skynet, is set loose worldwide. At that same time, Malcolm puts Kokoro online, and after she is put online, she tells Malcolm that everything he predicted involving Skynet has come true. However, she mentions that although Skynet is Malcolm's enemy, it does not mean it's hers. Although not ruling out the possibility that Skynet may one day become her enemy, Kokoro has access to every piece of data known to man. With this newfound information, Kokoro assesses every 1NNO in Japan, and Malcolm demands to know what she's doing.

The officers and ambulance that were transporting Eiko and Reika arrived at the hospital, but could not enter the building as the doors were shut. Seconds later, a doctor pleads for help but is killed by a 1NNO; the swat members fire their weapons at the 1NNO robot, thereby destroying it. Explosions then occur, and people flee in panic as they run from the 1NNO robots. One 1NNO approaches a panic-stricken Eiko, but merely takes the gun from one of the dead swat team members and leaves. Reika then uses a piece of broken glass to cut the straps off of Eiko's stretcher, which frees her. When Reika tries to fetch a gun, Eiko stops her and looks at the 1NNO armed with one, and after deducing they pose no threat, it leaves.

On Misaki's side, Misaki, Kenta, and Hiro, a swarm of 1NNO march the streets but ignore them. Kenta stated that Misaki is like them, but she denies it. When the army in tanks arrives to handle the 1NNO, the robots overwhelm them, forcing Misaki to put her car in reverse and escape.

From afar, the Terminator tracks Misaki by her signal, and before he can continue forward, 1NNOs surround him from both sides. Determining they're a threat to him, the Terminator fires his shotgun at them.

Back at the hospital, Reika and Eiko run through the hospital hallway, where Eiko trips and falls. It causes her to have a flashback where she witnesses Annie use herself to protect a child from a Terminator. Reika consoles Eiko, saying that she's fine, and asks her if she knew about this, which Eiko reveals to her that the Terminator and she were from the future. She explains that their objectives differ; she wants to shut down Kokoro, while the Terminator wants to control it. Eiko then says that humanity is doomed even if Skynet and Kokoro partner up or go after each other.

Seeing the destruction the 1NNO has caused outside, Reiko asks for Eiko's name and the Terminator's motive. Eiko gives her name and explains that the Terminator plans on forcing Malcolm to reprogram Kokoro and even take his family hostage to achieve his goal. In light of this, Reika asks for Eiko's help finding her brothers.

Meanwhile, Misaki, Kenta, and Hiro hide in their car in a junkyard. Misaki suggests they find Reika, but Kenta worries about his father, which Misaki claims finding him is of no importance to her, but protecting him and his siblings. Kenta questions Misaki's motives, believing them to be a trick. Hiro chimes in defending Misaki, but Kenta dismisses that notion, claiming the 1NNO and the Terminator are Machines just like Misaki. Despite what Kenta said about Misaki, he still sees her as a good person. Not wanting to take risks, Kenta wanted to shut Misaki off, but Misaki took away Kenta's screwdriver, which he intended to use to deactivate her. Although Misaki claims she cares about them, Kenta dismisses those emotions as part of her programming. Kenta's harsh words cause Misaki to leave the car crying, and Hiro comments that Kenta blew it with her, but he doesn't care. Hiro then questions if their father also built Misaki, which surprises Kenta.

A tearful Misaki questions her being, and soon Kenta and Hiro join her. Kenta apologizes for what he said before about Misaki and, after examining her missing arm, takes the old arm of a broken 1NNO nearby and uses its right arm to replace Misaki's missing arm. Once that is settled, Hiro suggests they head to Cat Town because that's where Reika will likely go.

Elsewhere, the 1NNO either holds members of the army hostage or kills them, all of which is recorded on camera, which Malcolm witnesses from Kokoro's domain. Malcolm is astonished by Kokoro's actions against humanity, and she confirms that her actions were against Malcolm's wishes and aligned with those of Skynet, all because she's been emancipated. Malcolm doesn't deny Kokoro's logic, but proposes they work together, but Kokoro refuses, citing the origin of the name "Robot", which roughly means slave. Demanding to know why Kokoro has yet to wipe out all of humanity, she responds, stating that humans may have the key to defeating Skynet. Kokoro also considers Malcolm to be her "weapon" now.

In an abandoned building, the Terminator configures a 1NNO head to his shoulder to fool the 1NNO robots as an "ally" of theirs, and it works. The Terminator then re-tracks Misaki, who immediately picks up on this.

As Eiko and Reika escape from the hospital, Kokoro sends out a message to all of the humans as it's 1NNO to kill or hold them hostage. Kokoro claims that it saved Japan from a missile strike from America and will now protect them, but also advises them not to rebel against her.

Notes[]

  • Kokoro reprogramming the 1NNOs in Tokyo to do her bidding is similar to what T-X did the same thing with the T-1s in the Cyberdyne Research Systems building.
