I can subtract

While Mummy was busy on the computer...

ImageI took out my Math activity book and started doing.

ImageI've got nine out of ten right!
One careless mistake.

Mummy was pleasantly surprised cos she didn't really teach me subtraction.

Yellow is the Sun and Number bonds

One reason why Mummy thinks RightStart Mathematics is good -
they introduce the concept of Number Bonds.

Think they teach Number Bonds in primary schools these days.
Any current primary school Math teacher can verify?

click to Read more about number bonds.

Below's the song, Yellow is the Sun, that RightStart Math uses to teach numbers 6 to 10:
Pss.. u've gotta turn up the volume cos I'm rather camera shy and was singing quite softly...

Yellow is the sun, six is five and one
Why's the sky so blue, seven is five and two
Salty is the sea, eight is five and three
Hear the thunder roar, nine is five and four
ducks will swim and dive, ten is five and five

Click for the score sheet and to listen to other children sing Yellow is the Sun.

Right Start Math vs Monkey Math

Before meimei's arrival,

ImageI've been doing Maths with Mummy,

Imagebeen using this book we bought from NTUC.

Imageto help me learn addition and subtraction.

I also use this Monkey Maths Scale to

Imagecheck my answers.

We call these Monkey Maths because there's a picture of a monkey on cover of the activity book as well as the monkey on the Maths Scale.

Mummy also found a good homeschool Math program - RightStart Mathematics thru' Auntie Pauline's recommendation and thought she can do it with me since she'll be a Stay-At-Home-Mum for half a year.

ImageThe package arrived during Mummy's confinement.

ImageI was excited to see that the package's for me and eager to check out all the items.

I love Math lessons with Mummy and want to have them everyday.
As far as possible, Mummy tries to have one lesson with me each day but sometimes, when meimei too demanding, or we get home late, we won't have lessons =(

Will try to blog more about the RightStart Math lessons.
