V-Rally 3 is a racing video game developed by Eden Studios. The third mainline entry in the series, it was initially released in 2002 for the PlayStation 2, and ported to the Xbox, GameCube, and Windows in 2003.

Development[]

V-Rally 3 was developed for the PlayStation 2 console by Eden Studios. Its developers built a new physics and 3D engine capable of modeling vehicles in 15,000 polygons.

Gameplay[]

The game focuses on the career mode, in which players try to become the champion. Alternatively, the game offers a quick race mode. Players are offered inside the car or behind it as driving perspectives.

V-Rally Mode is the main career path of V-Rally 3. Players start in the 1.6L FWD category and work their way aiming fot the top to win the supreme title: Champion of the 2.0L 4WD category. Players can strategise their career, including team contracts.

Quick Races[]

  • Time Attack - Racers try to get the best possible times on each course, and players can compete against their own ghost. Up to four players can compete on a course, each taking the starting line in turn.
  • Challenge Mode - A series of competitions of at least three stages in which players hat to beat a stipulated accumulated time to win and move up to the next challenge. It can also be played in multiplayer, in which the objective is to beat the other player's total time.

Cars[]

The game includes official vehicles from the 2000 to 2002 World Rally Championship and the 2001-2002 Super 1600 Junior World Rally Championship. Cars display physical damage and visible dirt taken during events. The game also includes unlockable vehicles.

Repairs[]

Players can repair their car when it's damaged during a race.

Car Setup[]

Players can set up different elements of their car in line with their strategy - tires, brakes, suspensions, etc.

Courses[]

The game features 24 tracks of six locations around the world from the 2000 to 2002 World Rally Championship and the 2001-2002 Super 1600 Junior World Rally Championship.

A handheld adaptation for Game Boy Advance was developed by the Velez & Dubail Dev. Team and made available in 2002.
