OUR STORY

Welcome to Crete.
This is an island where the sea is never far, where mountains meet villages, and where every visit has its own story. Crete is not only about places you see, but about the people you meet, the food you share, and the traditions that are still alive in everyday life.

We grew up here, and the island has shaped who we are. We know its quiet paths, its history, its flavors, and its hidden corners. What we want is to open those doors for you, to show you Crete as we live it.

Our idea is simple: no ready-made tours, no rushing from one sight to another. Instead, we focus on small details, a meal cooked at home with recipes passed down through generations, an afternoon on a beach where you’ll find no crowds, or a conversation with people who have lived here all their lives.

We also believe in caring for Crete. Respect for nature, support for local families, and keeping traditions alive are part of everything we do.

We don’t think of ourselves as guides. We are here as hosts, and hopefully as friends. What matters most to us is that when you leave Crete, you take something deeper than photos,  a memory that feels like it belongs to you.

So let’s explore this island together. Let’s find the Crete that exists beyond the postcards, the Crete that will stay with you.

Meet Your Local Host – Ernest

Ernest is a local host at Way to Crete, and he simply does what he has always loved doing — showing people the Crete he knows and lives every day.

He grew up on the island, so for him these places are not “stops on a tour”, but familiar landscapes, villages, paths, and stories connected to real life. Over time, this turned into sharing Crete with visitors who want something more genuine than a standard excursion.

When you join an experience with Ernest, it’s relaxed and unforced. He explains things in a simple way, answers questions naturally, and adjusts the day depending on the group and the moment. Nothing feels scripted or rushed — it’s more like spending the day with someone who knows the area well and enjoys showing it.

What people often mention afterwards is how easy and comfortable the experience felt. Not just what they saw, but the atmosphere of the day.

For Ernest, that’s the point: to keep things real, simple, and honest, and to help people experience Crete in a way that feels natural.
