Run Empowered

Half marathon training starts in July!

Online half marathon coaching for women runners

Join us this summer and fall to train together for October and November races! This small group program is for you if you want to pursue meaningful race goals in your 40s or 50s, and you know you don’t want to follow a generic plan that ignores your well-being or your schedule.

If you've ever looked at a training plan and thought: “This doesn’t fit my life,” you’re in the right place.

A smarter way to train for your half marathon

When you join us, you'll get a plan that's tailored to your experience and goals and easy to fit around your other commitments — and crucially, adjusted as your training unfolds and life happens.

We focus on helping you arrive at the starting line feeling:

  • fit and prepared

  • confident in your training

  • strong in your body

  • none of the burnout you may have experienced in the past

Train for a half marathon in a way that respects your body's changing needs, your busy life, and your long-term health!

Who this is for:

This program is for you if you are:

  • training for a half marathon, whether it's your first one or you've run several and want a different experience this time

  • balancing running with a busy life

  • noticing that recovery, stress and problems with consistency affect your training more than they used to

  • ready for a more thoughtful, personalized approach to training

What makes this different:

Most half marathon plans assume consistent energy every week, predictable schedules, and identical recovery from session to session. But that's not what training looks like for most women in midlife.

Here, your training adapts with you. As your energy, schedule, and recovery needs shift, your training shifts too. We combine structure and intention with flexibility, so your training and life feel better balanced.

This is not about doing more. It’s about doing what works for you.

What you get when you join us this summer

Personalized half marathon training plan

A 13-week plan designed around your goals, experience and schedule. Not a cookie cutter plan but built for how you actually live and train.

Coaching support throughout your training

Biweekly group coaching calls where we work through training decisions, adjustments and challenges together. You can bring your questions, your doubts and your real-life training experience to share with the group. You’ll get feedback and direction so you know how to adjust and what to prioritize, so you can train with more confidence.

Education that supports your training

Through Q&As and group discussions, you'll learn about topics like:

  • pacing and race strategy

  • fueling and hydration

  • recovery and energy management

  • balancing training with work and life stress

  • mindset and consistency

  • injury prevention and smart adaptation

Private group support

A small group of like-minded women runners training alongside you — sharing wins, challenges, and keeping each other accountable through the season.

Kickoff 1:1 coaching call

We start with a focused intake session so your plan reflects your current training needs and health history.

A few more details about the program:

  • Group coaching calls take place via Google Meet every 2 weeks, from the last week of July through the first week of November. Attend the 6-8 calls that best line up with your training schedule.

  • We'll find a meetup time that suits all group participants (in continental US time zones).

  • You'll get a 13-week half marathon training plan to get you race ready. You start yours 13 weeks before race day  group members may be on different schedules depending on their race dates.

  • You'll also get a 1:1 coaching call at the start of the program. The earliest week for these is July 13th.

  • Training plans will be available for beginner and intermediate half marathoners, adjusted to your schedule and running experience. We continue to adapt the plan as needed.

Meet coach Heini Tallent

I have been coaching women runners since 2015, and I'm passionate about the work I do. From the very beginning of my own running journey, I’ve experienced how powerful it is when women support each other — there’s a different kind of confidence that builds when you’re not figuring it out alone.

I created Run Empowered during the pandemic to bring runners together, and it soon grew into something much bigger. Since then, I’ve run programs for brand new runners, experienced half marathoners, and women returning to running after breaks, burnout or life transitions.

Over time, my work has evolved towards a focus on sustainable performance: helping women continue pursuing meaningful running goals while adapting to changes in their body and life demands.

My training as a functional medicine health coach adds another layer to this approach. It allows us to look beyond just the training plan and consider the whole picture: recovery, energy, stress, and the everyday factors that influence how your running actually feels.

If you have questions about the program, email me and ask! I'll be happy to help you figure out if this is the right fit.

I'd love to welcome you into Run Empowered this season!

“Heini's program was thoughtful, supportive, and completely doable. She guided me through training, nutrition, and race prep with so much care.”

Got questions?

WHO IS THIS GROUP PROGRAM FOR? Women runners in midlife who want to improve their running performance while balancing training with sustainable health and longevity. It doesn't matter how much you run, how fast, or how seriously - everyone sets their own goals. To train for a strong half marathon in three months, you should be able to run comfortably for one hour or at least 5 miles. Training plans are offered for beginner and intermediate half marathoners running 3-4 times a week.

WHAT RACES IS THIS SUITABLE FOR? The ideal window for goal races is October 10th — November 8th, 2026. However there's some flexibility and group members will likely be on slightly different training schedules. You'll get a half marathon training plan for 13 weeks - plan ahead so you're ready to start 13 weeks before your target race date! This could be before our group sessions start, or it could be after we've already started. Group calls run from the last week of July through the first week of November - you can attend all of them, or just the ones leading up to your goal race.

WHEN & WHERE DO THE LIVE SESSIONS TAKE PLACE? Coaching sessions are held virtually on Google Meet. When you sign up, I'll ask what days and times work best for you, and I'll do my best to find a time that works for everyone (we've always managed to find one!). Typically, it has been a midweek evening, but this could change. It's one reason why registering early is very helpful!

WHAT ARE THE COACHING SESSIONS LIKE? Our group meetups are a mix of accountability check-ins, Q&As, group discussions on a specific topic, personal feedback on your training and health questions, and individual goal setting. Everyone gets to share their progress and feel supported. The sessions are collaborative and most successful when everyone actively contributes to conversations and joins with a willingness to offer and accept support and share their experience.

HOW WILL I BENEFIT FROM A GROUP LIKE THIS? You'll learn how to train effectively and with your overall wellness in mind, following a training plan that a certified and experienced coach has written to fit your needs, goals, and life schedule. You'll learn how to adjust that plan to best suit your body, energy and changing commitments. Depending on your experience, you might try new types of workouts or a way of training you haven't experimented with before. Whenever training or health questions arise, you have a trusted expert you can ask. The group environment will also boost your motivation and accountability. Program participants often share how much they gain not only from the coaching but also from the group setting: you'll learn from each other and inspire each other to keep trying your best. Most people finish the program feeling more motivated, more consistent in their running, happier with their progress, and with a clear action plan for next steps.
