A Reminder for Our Community During Difficult Times
Community Update from the Islamic Center of San Diego

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,
In light of the heartbreaking events our community experienced last week, the Islamic
Center of San Diego’s Boards, Imams, and leadership have been working diligently to
support our community, care for the affected families, and evaluate the safety and
security of our facility.
We know many community members have questions and concerns. While there is still
an active and ongoing law enforcement investigation, we want to share the following updates based on what we can say at this time:
Support for the Families
Alhamdulillah, our community has shown extraordinary generosity in supporting the
families of our beloved brothers.
Due to the complexity of this matter, further updates are still forthcoming. The donated
funds are being kept completely separate from ICSD funds and will be handled with
appropriate oversight, documentation, and care.
Safety and Security
The safety of our children, families, staff, and entire community remains our highest
priority.
Local law enforcement will continue to be available on site in the short term. ICSD is
also continuing to work with law enforcement and hired security professionals to
evaluate additional safety measures and determine the best path forward.
We ask for the community’s patience as this work continues.
Mosque Operations
ICSD is currently open for all five daily prayers.The front office is expected to reopen on Tuesday during regular office hours,
inshaAllah. Given the high volume of calls, emails, and community needs, we kindly ask
everyone to be patient and to keep in-person interactions with staff brief and respectful.
Updates regarding ICSD programs, including Youth Group, Saturday School, Qur’an
Academy, and related offerings, will be shared through the appropriate channels.
Bright Horizon Academy
ICSD leadership is working closely with Bright Horizon Academy’s Board and leadership
to address safety concerns related to the school’s presence at ICSD. We also wish to
acknowledge the BHA teachers & staff for their courage and noble efforts in keeping the
students safe. Further updates will be provided as appropriate.
Community Town Hall
ICSD is planning a community town hall to provide updates, answer questions where
possible, and listen to community concerns. Details will be shared once finalized.
We are one community, and in moments like this, we must come together with patience,
mercy, wisdom, and trust in Allah.
May Allah grant our beloved brothers the highest levels of Jannah, bring comfort and
strength to their families, protect our children and our community, and guide us to serve
Him and one another in the best way. Ameen.
