Congratulations Girls Basketball
The New Smyrna Beach High School Girls Basketball team won our school’s first basketball state championship in school history. The Cudas defeated Gainesville High School 56-49 on March 7th, in Lakeland at the FHSAA State Championship to become the Class 5A Girls Basketball State Champions! This year’s team led by Coach Aisha Patrick was ranked as the number one team in 5A all season and finished the season with a record of 27-5. The Cudas Girls Basketball Team, who finished the season on a 15-game winning streak, was also winner of the Volusia/Flagler 5 Star Conference Championship, the FHSAA Class 5A District 9 Championship, and the FHSAA Class 5 Region 2 Championship. This was truly an historic season!

The New Smyrna Beach High School Wrestling team made history this past week. We had 2 wrestlers win state championships for the first since 1998. Jonathan Bruner won a state championship in the 144-pound division, and Kyle Nilsson won a state championship in the 215-pound division. It was definitely a great weekend to be a Barracuda! In the words of our principal, Tim Merrick, “Nobody has it better than us”!
