    29 yrs ago today I began a journey that has given me great satisfaction and fulfillment. I never imagined that I would climb the ranks of the #NYPD and am grateful for my mentors who encouraged me and guided along the way.

    I’ve walked across this stage for my promotions to Sgt (1998) Lt (2001) Capt (2003) DI (2012) & Insp (2016). Today I made my final walk across the stage at todays retirement ceremony. It was bitter sweet to be back at 1 PP. It was a great ride. Thanks for the memories.

    Working my last New Years Eve detail in 2018. I shared it with the next generation of the “Finest” PO Gambardella who is wearing my Police Officer shield, #29782. I hate clichés but it truly was “a front row seat to the greatest show on earth”. To all still in the show-Be Safe

    30 years ago today I joined the Greatest Police Dept in the world 93-36. Ive seen the best/worst of humanity. I rose the ranks and worked with some of the finest men & women imaginable. As I wind down my career I remember those who we lost along my journey 🙏🏻. God Bless the #NYPD

    I considered Chief Silks not just my boss but a mentor and a friend. I cherish the many conversations, stories and laughs we shared over the years. He embodied what a leader is, always looking out for his “troops” and the best interests of the #NYPD and the city he proudly served

    It is with a heavy heart that I announce that Dep. Chief Steve Silks (XO-PBQN) passed away yesterday after nearly 40 yrs of dedicated service. He was a one-of-a-kind, well-accomplished individual & an amazing storyteller. Steve will be missed by so many throughout the NYPD & NYC.

    Im these most difficult times in policing, working against what seem like insurmountable odds at times, the men & women of the NYPD are still risking it all for the people of #NYC. Congratulations to the class of 8/30/93 and lets #NeverForget those who haven’t made it this far.

    Today we stood at attention and saluted the life and service of Detective Chris Cranston (ret) who died of cancer contracted from his heroic work during the rescue and recovery efforts on and after 9/11/01. Rest in Eternal Peace Chris. #NeverForget

    On 8/30/93 I raised my right hand & began a career in law enforcement. 30+ yrs later I officially “dropped my papers” for retirement. Bitter sweet moment leaving a job I love & people I respect, that continue the mission of public safety. I will “walk out” 2/13/14 & retire 2/19
