Went to do a job in Baildon this morning, and turned into one truly emotional roller coaster Pulls up, bloke about 70 greets us, I look and think I recognise you, he speaks and I know the voice, but just can't place it at all He wants observatory he is building waterproofed 1/?

Just had the gaffer think he can talk to me like absolute shit over nothing So I downed tools, and set off home immediately, I don't have much in life, but I have something in me that won't allow me to be treated like that, talked to like that I can hold my head up

The man stood before me, who I only know as Jeremy Is in fact Mr Higginson, my head of year for both year 7 and then year 8 21 years later, randomly come across the bloke who had a massive impact on my childhood, the first person to tell me my parents were wrong to hit me..3/?

Changed how I thought, made me look at things The first person to tell me I wasn't a bad person, that I wasn't even that badly misbehaved, & didn't deserve it He called social services, uproar, i started running away from home At the end of year 8, I ran away for good...8/?

You see. It was just normal to me, all other kids would tell me how badly their dad would smack them, or use a belt or slipper, so it was just the same right? No, no it wasn't. No love in my house growing up, I just never knew. Mr Higginson freed me, in my mind...7/?

Mr Higginson pulled me to one side, asked where the black eye was from, did I have a problem with someone in school No sir, I got tomato sauce on table, my mam slapped me in face His response changed my life, how he reacted, what he said to me. Made me realise it was wrong 6/?

See i got battered as a child, like genuinely over the top beatings, abuse is the word, it wasn't do something wrong and get a belt for it It was ask my Dad if could buy some pokemon cards and he broke my nose for being selfish. I was 8 years old...4/?
