There was something odd about watching the past several days in Syria. On one level, it felt like deja vu from 2012. At the same time it was a completely different dynamic. The difference that set in motion this historic development is Israel. More precisely: Benjamin Netanyahu.

Then came the final humiliation: being crushed by Donald Trump. The simultaneous collapse of Obama and of the Iranian project, then, is no coincidence. His failure to break Israel--thanks to Netanyahu's historic leadership--is at the heart of his defeat both at home and abroad.

Meanwhile, Obama's plan to rule indefinitely through a shadow presidency exploded spectacularly. Installing a mummy proved untenable, as it decomposed right before Obama could sneak in the empty vessel he had chosen. When he forced the mummy out, he exposed himself even more.
