- Of course hardworking New Yorkers deserve a raise in the minumum wage. But, when NYC tried to raise it in 2014, Andrew Cuomo blocked it because it didn't benefit him. We’ve been here before. I remember, New York remembers.To meet the affordability crisis in NYC, we need to raise wages so hardworking families can afford to stay here.
