This is literally what fascism looks like. An elected official the government doesn't like is prevented from participating in making the law. And people who show up to demand their representative do her DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED job are removed by riot Police.

Just a reminder that absolutely nothing has changed in terms of societal & institutional transphobia since she died. In fact it's got worse. Our current Prime Minister used Brianna's mother for good PR & immediately went after trans people after that.

The BBC have badly edited a scene in Transformers Earthspark where Nightshade learns about being non-binary, here's the part they cut. Transformers has been inclusive of LGBTQ characters for a long time now.

People have made contact with them and they've made it extremely clear they want to be left alone. This has been extremely well documented. I'm not trying to be an asshole but genuinely the logic you are using is coloniser logic of "we need to civilise them". Leave them alone.

In the context of the time, the goal was to normalise the existence of gay & trans people-who could be good or bad irrelevant to their transness because our very existence was controversial on TV. It was a totally different goal to representation today. This was based at the time

Making Cassandra the first explicit transgender Doctor Who character might just be one of the most horribly aged things in the history of the show. After rewatching End of The World alone, it has aged disastrously in that one aspect. Fine character, shouldn't have been trans.
