In June, one of the authors of the DSM 4 (which sets the criteria for diagnosing mental disorders) came out and said “oh yeah, the incredible spike in autism diagnoses is due to our changes in definition.” Why the APA/CDC didn’t scream this for the past 20 years is beyond me.

Another reason you should let writers have input in headlines. This is a good article and the journalist knows that Chernobyl is in Ukraine! But the headline writer seems not to and it makes the writer’s life worse.

This kind of stuff really does make me worried for the future. There have always been assholes but I have the sense that adults used to understand “hey I’m the grown up what are you going to do” and now it’s like “kids aren’t allowed to exist bc of my personal issues”
